Training Tribal members for skilled jobs in the Forest Products Division
The need
TERO needed an ally inside the Tribal corporation to develop a training program for Tribal members in the Forest Products Division. Positions there were being filled by non-Native workers and people who were not Tribal members.
What Larry did
Larry assisted TERO, and TERO assisted him, in developing lumber grader, millwright and log scaler programs. They built partnerships with agencies, unions and local colleges so candidates had every opportunity to succeed.
What it led to
Candidates who completed the program had a job. Larry, as the human resources person, helped hire them.
